50+ years experience within the Construction Industry, with the last 40+ years spent working with and supporting many of the world’s leading architects and engineers on major projects.

I have built a number of businesses throughout my career. I was a founding Partner of Schumann Smith, then an Equity Partner in Davis Langdon, Owner of Schumann Consult, Partner at Rider Levett Bucknall, owner of Schumann International and now a specialist consultant at NBS Schumann.

Throughout my career I have supported architects in the delivery of world class projects through design management and specification consultancy, with a focus on procurement, legal and technical issues.

My focus has generally been on design management and specifications, in particular how they link with cost, procurement, risk management and different forms of construction contract. I am a regular contributor to numerous industry and design publications and lectures around the world.
